As someone who comes from a culture that teaches you to be humble since early childhood, I can safely say this is a very enlightening perspective. We are taught that being humble means demeaning ourselves in front of others and accepting whatever they throw our way as long as we gain something from it. So we put up with a lot of wrong things and suffer in silence to keep our job, to get that deal, to stay friends with this or that person with status. Of course the respective people know we can’t and won’t fight back, so they take advantage of it. I don’t know which party is worse. We live in an age where interest dictates our behavior, and while we may seem humble, on the inside we feel we’re the best.
PS: I know today’s not Monday, but sometimes my personal life and my need to disconnect comes before everything 😉
